Privacy Policy

Last updated April 24, 2026

Sardine Weather is a predictions tool. We collect as little as we can get away with. This page is the plain-English version of what we actually do.

1. What We Collect From the App

The Sardine Weather iOS app fetches a public prediction feed from our API. In the current version we do not require an account, we do not read your contacts, photos, location, or any other personal identifier, and we do not implement any third-party analytics or advertising SDK.

The only device-side data the app stores, entirely on your phone, is:

  • Your appearance preference (System / Paper / Marine).
  • Whether you have dismissed the first-launch onboarding.

These are stored via iOS AsyncStorage and never transmitted. They are cleared if you uninstall the app.

2. What Our API Logs Server-Side

When your app or browser requests data from api.sardine-weather.com, our server and its reverse proxy log the request path, request time, HTTP status, and IP address for the purpose of operating the service (rate limiting, debugging outages, blocking abuse). These logs are retained for up to 30 days and then discarded. They are never joined to any advertising identifier or sold.

3. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not collect device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) — the app does not request App Tracking Transparency because it does not track.

4. Kalshi and NOAA Links

When you tap a market row in the app, we open kalshi.com in your device's default browser or in the Kalshi app if installed. Anything you do on Kalshi after that is governed by Kalshi's own privacy practices. Weather data comes from NOAA/NWS public feeds and contains no information about you.

5. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. The app content references prediction market contracts, which are restricted to adults.

6. Your Rights

Because we do not maintain user accounts, we typically have no personal information tied to you to export or delete. If you believe we do, or if you have questions about how we handle data, contact support@sardine-weather.com and we will respond within 30 days. Residents of California (CCPA), Virginia (VCDPA), and the European Economic Area (GDPR) can exercise the rights their jurisdictions provide via the same email.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be disclosed in-app or on this page and take effect on the “Last updated” date shown above.
